Wheels on the Bus Song: The Wheels on the LumiBus Is Coming Soon
Beep beep! The big yellow LumiBus rolls up and Ray shouts, 'Road trip!' The friends buckle up and ride all around LumiLand, past the farm, through the rain and home at sunset, with a new movement to copy at every turn.
This is the episode where…
- Bobo can't find his seatbelt buckle and looks everywhere, even in his scarf
- Bobo gets on the bus, then off, then on again, until the doors close with him half in
- rain starts to tap on the windows and the wipers go swish, swish, swish
- the LumiBus stops at red, blue and yellow bus stops to hunt for colours
- a mother duck and her ducklings cross the road and the bus waits for them
- a flat tyre gets pumped back up with Ray's help
The Wheels on the LumiBus is a LumiLand version of the classic, and it's coming soon. It teaches toddlers and preschoolers the action-song moves for the wheels, doors, wipers and horn, plus a colour hunt at the bus stops and counting the passengers. Toddlers and preschoolers ride along with Lumi, Ray, Bobo, Mimi and Tuki on the big yellow LumiBus, with Nina joining partway through.
The story
It starts on a quiet country road. With a friendly "beep beep", the LumiBus rolls up and the friends climb aboard. First, everyone buckles up. Well, almost everyone: Bobo can't find his buckle until Tuki points it out. Then the wheels go round and the trip begins.
Each verse brings a new part of the bus and a new move to copy. The doors open and shut while Bobo can't decide between in and out. Rain arrives and the wipers swish, and a little rainbow appears. Tuki becomes the horn. The friends wave to the farm, the playground, the flowers and Star Hill, where Nina lives.
More than one song
Along the way, the bus stops at red, blue and yellow bus stops so your child can hunt for colours. The friends count the passengers, then wait patiently while a duck family crosses the road. "We always wait for our friends." There's also a flat tyre to pump up, a beach stop for listening to waves and seagulls, and a sound game with a fire truck, a tractor and a train.
The familiar chorus returns all through the ride: "The wheels on the LumiBus roll, roll, roll". At sunset, the bus rolls slowly home and parks at Lumi's house.
While you wait

Wait for the ducks
On your next walk, stop together at the curb and count to five before you cross with a grown-up, just like the LumiBus waits for the ducks.
